What Could It Be?
For those of you who never knew our Sadie….we had a little tradition in our house…..Rob called it the “Holiday Humiliation Photo”
Sadie was dressed up for Holidays, Birthdays, or whenever I found something cute! I would have to say the HulaWeen photo had to have been her best effort. She rocked her little coconut bra. So of course as soon as we brought Stella home I was hearing the question, “When are you going to dress her up?” Rob cringed…..when he saw the present that Grammy Jo had brought her last weekend I swear I saw a shiver run up and down his spine. He said, “You are NOT going to put her in that….we’ll run away.”
Call me crazy…..but as wonderful as Sadie was….I think Stella has SuperStar potential……..
She’s really good in front of the camera…and quite the little ham. I decided to introduce her to the costume photo shoots when Rob was not at home. She did quite well.
It was a step by step process…..first wiggle her squirmy limbs into the ladybug outfit…..which did make her stand in place for 1 solid minute..that’s a record for her.
LOOK at the Eye Roll on her...
No Outfit is Complete Without a Hat.
Then we headed for the great outdoors. It’s easier to take photos of her out there and the yard looks so nice!
Is the Dog Next Door Laughing At Me?
I'm Pretty Sure My Papa Said You Were NOT To Do This. I'm Telling.
Rob was horrified when I showed him the photos. Stella gave me an “I TOLD YA SO!” look, but I think she looks adorable. The first experiment was a great success and you can all breath a sigh of relief that the “Holiday Humiliation” Photo Shoots WILL continue. Sadie would be pleased.
Today is our third week with Stella! Have I mentioned before how much boundless, wild puppy energy she has? No? Well…..one of her former favorite things to do was to run around in her backyard in crazy circles. Without warning….she would stop her circles and just take off! Wheee!!!! The first time or two she only ran over to the neighbor’s yard and was easily caught when she stopped to sniff around on the porch. THEN….the next time….she took off across the street.
How fun was that? I’m not sure what was more fun for her…the actually crazy running or hearing me running behind her…lungs on the verge of collapsing….saying words that I hoped the neighbors couldn’t hear me saying.
Although the backyard is mostly fenced in…we weren’t sure we wanted to completely fence it. So we bought a dog trolley for our little runaway. Papa installed it for her in a couple of minutes! Yay Papa!!!!
- Try and run away now Stella…just try it…
It goes to from the edge of the deck to the back of the yard and she seems to like it. She can run back and forth and can still do her circles. She just can’t scare the bejeezus out of us by running out onto our busy street.
- How cute is she???
Do you notice what is on the post to the right? Have I told you how my Rob has a “touch” of OCD? He’s not a compulsive handwasher, or an eyebrow hair puller. He’s just very particular and detailed about his projects. He installed a little safety measure to make sure that her leash was always handy when out in the yard. Like the most dangerous of criminals….we walk her on her leash from the house….to the run, hook her to the run while she’s still on her leash….and then…when she is securely fastened to the dog trolley….you take off the leash…..
- You put the leash on the HOOK!!!
That way the leash is always nearby. If done properly….there will be no way for her to escape from the backyard again. Unless of course she slides past you on her lightening fast ninja paws as you open the door to go turn the food on the grill…..and she zips by you and you’re left standing in the yard with the bbq tongs in your hand wondering if it is too late to send her back to Louisiana and again quietly saying bad, bad words. Anyway….off on a tangent….back to the trolley. I liked the trolley better than the tie outs that you stake into the ground. Less chance of her getting tangled up. And when we hook her to it while wearing her harness instead of her collar there is no way for her to choke herself.
If Stella were human…..this is who she would be:
At a posting coming soon…….
